Marconi is the southernmost Wellfleet beach and the furthest from Wellfleet Center. It's a big and beautiful ocean beach that's part of the Cape Cod National Seashore. On a cliff overlooking the water, there's a small educational display commemorating the Italian inventor Guglielmo Marconi. Believe it or not, Marconi made the first wireless call across the Atlantic to the King of England from this Wellfleet site, about a hundred years ago.
Marconi Beach has a big parking lot. There are wooden stairs that lead down to the beach. Large sand dunes provide afternoon shade. The waves are good enough for surfing and bodyboarding.
There are restrooms and changing areas near the top of the steps. Across Route 6 there's Marconi Beach Restaurant. Also, the Atlantic White Cedar Swamp Trail is here.
