Mayo Beach

Mayo Beach is the most popular bay beach in Wellfleet. It's great for swimming and collecting sea shells. It's conveniently located next to the Wellfleet Pier, so you can pick up food and drinks at the counter there. Check the tide chart first if you're planning on swimming because at low tide there won't be enough water. Mayo is a bay beach. This means the water's a little warmer and the waves are a little milder.

Parking is very close to the beach, so Mayo is a great place to bring a kayak. Across the street is a playground. When you leave, pick up some fresh seafood at Mac's Shack on the Pier.

Mayo Beach is pleasant and good for families. It's nice for elderly people because there's not a big hill to get to the beach; you can stroll right in from the parking lot.

There are vacation homes available to rent right across the street and plenty more down the road, too.
