Jeremy Point is the tip of a narrow peninsula formed by the beaches of Great Island. It's partially submerged by water, which creates a sand bar that extends into the bay. Jeremy Point is the tip of this sandbar. Because it's submerged except at absolute low tide, it's usually invisible. Still, Jeremy Point is an amazing location to kayak to, recommended for experienced kayakers. The area is very tranquil. It's not a place for dogs. The tides are constantly altering the amount of exposed sand. The sea and beach combine in different patterns throughout the day, leaving behind shells and stones. Gentle waves lap against the shore, and hermit crabs like the shallow water near the sand bar. A few different species of birds flock overhead, swooping to the ocean's surface to catch fish. It would be a nice place to have a picnic or play a game of beach volleyball, if you're ambitious enough to pack the equipment into your boat. Jeremy Point and the beaches of Great Island are home to birds that roost and nest here, so it's important to respect this delicate ecosystem. The waves and wind will return your boat to Wellfleet Pier in half the time it took to get there, so relax and breathe the salty air!
